Templepoint in Watamu
Temple Point is located in the Watamu Marine National Park, a protected environment for the Mangroves, nestled between the Mida Creek and shores of the Indian Ocean. Our guests can marvel at the natural spectacle characterised by botanical gardens, African wildlife on land and sea, and breath-taking sunsets dropping into the creek.
It is an alternative and innovative concept encompassing the LichtHaus, a bar floating above the Mida Creek, the WasserHaus, a tranquil spa hidden above the water & beneath the mangroves, and the Bazaar, a vibrant pool and marketplace for events, co-working spaces, daily hospitality, dining, open air cinema on the weekends, and relaxing.
The Extra Divers diving centre brings our guests face to face with turtles, dolphins, whale sharks as well as the very small residents of the healthy coral reefs of Watamu. For travellers that want to escape into a new world, the hotel also offers long term stays with the option of fitness and wellness programs to reach their goals, physically and mentally.
All these experiences are supported by inventive new cuisine, wide ranging accommodation options that offer individual characteristics, price points and flare.

Kenya… A Special Destination
“Kenya has a special place in my heart, having grown up in the country. Our house was called Karibu and after my father passed away in 2022 we have dedicated this name to him.”

Drink, Eat & Live
The heart: The Bazaar
The colourful Bazaar is the heart of our daily cuisine: talented chefs deliver food that excites you any time of the day whether you like seafood, meat or live life as a vegan. Tantalize your tastebuds at the pool bar with a beautiful lively vibe. You must try the signature Holy Tree cocktail, made from the famous baobab tree.
Lichthaus Bar
Our famous bar above the Mida Creek is probably the only bar in Kenya where you can lay in a net above the water inside of a national park! Enjoy premium drinks & craft beers and modern Kenyan inspired food in an incredible setting and with a wonderful music playlist, creating a vibe and atmosphere like no other place in Watamu or Kenya.
The biggest highlight of this incredible place however is the daily gift of the sunset
Peace Below The Mangroves
Wasserhaus
A tranquil spa hidden in the mangrove forest was made to create a well being moment to last in your memory as an unforgettable experience. Aromas, expert hands and natural products that take care of your skin and soul at the same time. WasserHaus is a place where your whole body will feel balanced, revitalised and replenished after living life to the fullest.
Scuba Diving
The resort’s dive centre is run by Mathias who has dived all over the world and brings a mountain of experience and enthusiasm to the job.
The dive sites are located a 15-45 min. ride away in fast and well set up dive boats, leaving every diver space to move. Under water you will come face to face with turtles, dolphins, whale sharks as well as the beautiful marine life of the healthy coral reefs of Watamu.
Kitesurfing
Many kitesurfing spots can be found south of the Watamu Village where the kitesurfing schools are located. Ideal for beginners or kitesurfers who need to rent their gear or want to be surrounded by other likeminded people.
If you are an independent rider and want to run away from the crowds (not that there are many as the lagoon is just enormous), you can find many spots between Malindi and Watamu where you can enjoy your kitesurfing paradise with no one else around.
This location offers perfect onshore – cross-onshore winds all year round with only a few rainy months between the two windy seasons.
Experience more of life
Tour the mangroves by standup paddle boards (SUP) and canoes, set sail on a romantic sunset dhow cruise, find adventure in the sandstone canyons of Hell’s Kitchen. You adventure is calling
Kenya’s Bush Safari
Kenya is certainly amongst the best safari destinations worldwide. The spectacle of the great migration in the Maasai Mara is a marvel of our world. But also parks such as Lake Nakuru & Naivasha, Amboseli or Tsavo all offer their unique highlight.
Tsavo east & west are located only 1.5 hour drive away from Temple Point. Which makes it the only safari park in the world located in such close proximity to a tropical Beach.
